About Children's Tree Learning Center

Childrens Tree Learning Center Whitesboro

Childrens Tree Learning Center has been a staple in the Whitesboro community since 1986. This licensed center provides care for children ranging from 6 weeks old up to 12 years of age. The program focuses on a play-based curriculum and is recognized for its commitment to quality as a 4-star Texas Rising Star certified facility. Parents often value the center's long-standing presence and the convenience of transportation services to and from local schools. Managed by Director Mary McDowell, the center accommodates up to 175 children. While the facility maintains a high state-quality rating, its online presence is minimal, with no active website. Families interested in enrollment are encouraged to reach out via phone or email to discuss the daily routine, staff qualifications, and current availability.

The owner and her minions are ridiculous it’s sad that there’s very few places to take ur children since it’s a small town.

Owner is on social media degrading people that accept welfare. Saying that they “just want handouts” . Pulled my children out immediately. I do not want someone who judges a single mom struggle and think she above anyone else. Saying families should be ashamed of themselves for needing the help

The only good thing about this place was the owners daughter. She was great explains everything to me while the owner (Mary) was on vacation but as soon as I turned in the paperwork for my child (at the time he was 3 almost 4) she wasn’t nice. Signed him up in Sept 2021 and he moved up to a different class in the beginning of 2022 to a teacher he liked and respected. Then everything went down hill. They kept lying to me about me child. Told me that he has deliberately put sand down his pants, told me that he was showing others his private parts, ran over a child with a bike and stated that my kid did it because he like it (when asked my child in private he told me that he didn’t mean to run into him). Couldn’t be alone when he clearly just wanted to play by himself. Made him do things that he didn’t want to do and judged us by where we lived and one of her staff members confirmed it, she waits about three months and then makes up stuff about their child. Has complete favorites if they live in Whiteboro . Told us that no one wants to be his friend because he’s a horrible kid. We were cash pay and she never gave us the end of the year child care statement for taxes. Ended up pulling him out in Feb 2022 because they kept telling us that he was “biting kids” no incident report on it and they kept telling us to pick him up because he’s dangerous and they can’t control him. This place is literally a joke and no one should be treated this bad.

Web Report

Aggregated insights from public records & parent discussions

Safety Record

As of February 2026, Childrens Tree Learning Center holds a 'Full Permit' and has maintained a 4 out of 4-star Texas Rising Star certification. State records show 11 total deficiencies in the last 60 months out of 3,136 standards evaluated, with no high-risk deficiencies reported in its most recent monitoring inspection on April 15, 2025. No major news incidents or legal safety violations were found specifically for this facility.

Parent Reputation

Overall parent feedback is limited, as major platforms such as Winnie and TrustedCare report no current reviews. The facility is featured as a local business in the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce and maintains a long-standing presence in the community since 1986. Sentiment is neutral due to the lack of public parent discussions or forum mentions.

Staff Insights

A single employee review from 2019 rated the workplace poorly, citing concerns over training, management communication, and adherence to state regulations. However, other larger childcare employment platforms do not contain specific feedback for the Whitesboro location to verify if this is a consistent trend. The facility's 4-star state quality rating suggests adherence to higher operational standards than required by base licensing.
