About Westlake Hills Presbyterian Preschool
Westlake Hills Play-Based Christian Preschool
Established in 1978, Westlake Hills Presbyterian Preschool is a long-standing community staple in West Austin. The program offers a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum focusing on social, spiritual, and physical growth. The facility stands out with its unique garden classroom and multiple outdoor play areas where children engage in mud play, gardening, and outdoor art. Inside, small classes ensure attentive care from teachers as they guide children through an emergent curriculum. A major highlight for families is the Kinder-bridge program, specifically designed to prepare older children for the transition to elementary school. While the school is integrated with the church mission, it is widely recognized for fostering a nurturing environment and lasting family friendships through community events like Family Fun Night and Moms’ Night Out.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
WHPP is a really special preschool. My three kids have always been so loved and well taken care of. The staff wonderful and the play based curriculum had my daughter so well prepared for kindergarten after Kinder-Bridge at WHPP
I’ve had children at this preschool for 8 years, I’ve felt gratitude every day to have them in such a loving, safe preschool with a caring and attentive staff. My children have been nurtured, celebrated, and loved at WHPP. They have learned all they need to learn to be ready for kindergarten, and the teaching happens in such a fun, developmentally appropriate way with a tremendous emphasis on play-based learning. In my experience, the teachers and staff are warm, accessible, easy to communicate with, and willing to help troubleshoot issues. There are many wonderful families at the school, and along with my children, I’ve formed cherished friendships through the years, due in part to the school’s sponsored events such as Family Fun Night and the annual Moms’ Night Out. I would highly recommend this program to others as it has been such a great spot for our family.
I have put two kids through Westlake Hills preschool and it’s been such a joy. The team of educators and supporting staff is truly amazing. They are so passionate about creating a nurturing and enriching environment for the children. Both my kids thrived in the Kinder-bridge program and were so ready and excited about starting elementary school.
WHPP is such a special place to me and my whole family. The years I have had my child enrolled at WHPP (4) have created memories I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am grateful for the school, teachers and all of our families at our sweet school. This is truly a school I can say with all my heart, God has built.

The preschool has a long-standing reputation as a popular 'hidden gem' in the Westlake area, often cited by local parents as a top choice for early childhood education. Sentiment is generally positive regarding its community-focused environment, though recent online presence is limited. Parents value its integration with the church's mission and its child-centered, developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Staff Insights
Employee reviews are mixed; a 2024 review from a former teacher cited a stressful environment and management issues, while a 2018 lead teacher review praised the atmosphere and community. A 2022 report indicated the school, like many others, has faced challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified staff.
