About La Petite Academy on Beech Trail Drive
La Petite Academy Beech Trail
La Petite Academy Beech Trail has served San Antonio families for over 35 years, providing a structured 'School Readiness Pathway' that bridges the gap between childcare and elementary education. Their milestone-based curriculum, 'Learn from the Start', is tailored to each developmental stage, from sensory-rich infant care to an interactive Pre-K community. The center emphasizes both academic foundations and social-emotional growth, supported by a dedicated on-site chef and age-appropriate learning centers. Led by Director Lorraine Herrera, who brings 35 years of experience to the program, the staff includes long-tenured educators dedicated to transparent communication. Families benefit from the SproutAbout mobile app, which offers real-time updates and live streaming video access to their child's classroom. The facility is equipped with secure entry and offers various enrichment electives, including Spanish, Yoga, and Phonics, to provide a well-rounded experience for every student.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
I have had two of my sons here at this location and my nephew goes here as well. I love all the app updates on sproutabout. The morning staff is awesome always greeting the kiddos in the morning. I also love how they are always doing something festive every month. My nephew is always coming home singing songs that he has learned from his class.
I've really loved having my infant daughter here at La Petite. The teachers, Tracy, Alexis, and Valencia have been especially kind, making sure my baby is getting the care she needs--lots of floor time to explore, participating in fun rhymes, book reading, art experiences, and lots of great meal time! They always let me know if she's struggling with bottles, getting cranky, etc. I also really love how the office admin and Ms. Lorraine have cute seasonal decorations and engage the classes in fun activities, like a pumpkin decorating contest and book fairs, or offering boo-grams and fun fundraisers. Security and safety is also always top of mind--parents have their own codes, and the Sprout About app helps me feel connected to my baby since I can watch her while I'm away at work. Minor feedback, but nothing worth knocking a star off of (since they have little/no control of this): the city has been doing a lot of construction in the area recently, so traffic to/from during rush hours is bad, but will improve. And I wish the location had more outdoor/natural scenery for the kids/babies to enjoy, but that's the tradeoff you get for them being accessible in our very industrial area. But the activities and staff are awesome!
If I could give this facility no stars I would I had my child enrolled for three days and then unenrolled her because her mental stability is completely shattered. My kid is a very sweet happy child when I dropped her off the first day she was excited and she took off to play and I left when I picked her up she was tears and she looked horrified and was ready to go home and then when I took her in the next day she screamed mommy please no don't leave me and then I knew something was wrong so I watched on the camera the majority of the day they completely ignore my child as she walked around crying I also witnessed her teachers shoving other kids around by their head or yanking them by their arms my child was yanked on twice. At one point they just shut her in the bathroom alone for five minutes. My child has never ever been to a daycare I was lucky enough to have someone watch her for the first two years of her life but it was time to get her around other kids her age and I thought this would be a good idea but this was the worst place to do it at when I approach her teachers to talk about the behavior they just Acted like they didn't even care saying she'll get use to it most kids cry and then the next day I felt like she was treated worse as I watched her on the camera being completely ignored and sitting at the table with her head down crying I told my husband immediately go pick her up and unenroll. My child's crying and screams when I pick her up or drop her off were the sounds of complete terror not the cries of I just miss my mom. I will be filing a formal complaint with the company.
If I could give 10 stars, I would. After 2 horrendous daycares, I almost gave up before finding La Petite. Ever since my daughter has been enrolled since 2022, she has received nothing but exceptional care, wonderful lessons and amazing growth development. The director, Miss Lorraine, runs a tight ship and keeps the facility in order. My daughter’s teachers have taught her so much knowledge that she will take into Kinder. I’m so glad my daughter became apart of this school. Another honorable mention would be the chef, Mr. Tim! It always smells so good in the school with whatever is being whipped up in kitchen!
I love La Petite Beech Trail!! The staff are so good with the kids, my little one in the toddler room loved his teacher. Management is so helpful and kind with the kids with any problem. Ms. Lorraine, Ms. Pat, Ms. Jasmine, and Ms. Amy are so amazing. You feel the happiness from the second Lorraine greets you at the door. The kids are always smiling and laughing. I love that you get updates on the app and you can tune in to the cameras to see the activities they’re doing. So sad I had to move and leave! If it wasn’t for moving out of town of would’ve keep my baby there until they started school!
