What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
My son has been going to Distinct Abilities for several years. I commute daily over 30 minutes for his care. Landen recently started with there Private Elementary program with Mrs. Wendy. I am pleased with just a little over a month the progress my son has made. I love that he’s happy everyday to go to school and he has a teacher that does love working with my son, a comfortable learning environment but also makes learning fun. I look forward to the milestones he will strive to accomplish by the end of the school year.
We wanted our daughter to come here to excell in the private elementary program, because we heard so many good things. She has become way more confident and learning how to read at 4 years old. She loves going here to learn! If your looking for a program that will teach your kids good behavior, arithmetic, and how to treat everyone like family! This is your place.
We absolutely loved our experience at Distinct Abilities! Our daughter thrived so much! She loved her teachers and all the staff! It was her little family away from home. They have a wonderful curriculum to enhance learning and so many fun activities throughout the year. I highly recommend this facility!
My 5 year old has been attending distinct abilities since he turned 3. After being turned down by multiple daycares, Distinct abilities gave him a chance. My son was nonverbal when he joined, with the help of his support systems, distinct abilities’ programs and amazing staff, he is now verbal. He is talking, thriving, reading and doing SO much better in Only a matter of two years. I genuinely appreciate Mrs. Wendy for the constant encouragement and never giving up on My Son 🤍 he is currently in their listening program and private elementary and is doing extremely well, While meeting all of his academic milestones. Can’t wait to see what next year brings! Thank you again Mrs. Wendy. We love you 🫶🏽
My son started at this learning center back in November of last year. He was previously kicked out of a day care because they could not handle his impulses from ADHD. We travel 30 minutes to get to this location, and it is worth every second. Distinct Abilities took him in with open arms and have helped him learn to control his impulses in a positive way. He went from hating “school” to loving it because Mrs. Wendy and the staff are welcoming and very loving. Thank you distinct Abilities for accepting my son and being highly equipped in dealing with his energy!!

No major safety incidents, closures, or legal issues were found in public records or news articles. The facility is a licensed child care center (Permit #1473626) and holds a 4-Star Texas Rising Star (TRS) certification, which is the state's highest quality rating for compliance and health standards. It maintains a licensed capacity for 206 children and serves as an inclusive environment for both neurotypical and special needs students.
Parent Reputation
The preschool has a strongly positive reputation, particularly among parents of children with special needs such as autism. Reviews frequently highlight life-changing behavioral and social progress, with parents praising the 'expertly trained' staff and the director's advocacy for children with learning differences. While sentiment is overwhelmingly favorable on parent forums and sites like Everything Autism, one parent review noted the environment could be noisy due to its inclusive, high-capacity nature.
Staff Insights
Staff experiences appear mixed based on limited feedback; a 2023 review from a former teacher criticized management for overbooking classes and a lack of support, specifically mentioning issues at the Alvin sister location. Conversely, parents frequently mention specific educators, such as Ms. Ernestine and the Director Valerie, by name for their dedication, patient guidance, and specialized skill in facilitating growth for children of all abilities.
