About Playing for Keeps Childcare

Playing For Keeps Early Childhood Center

Serving the Longview community since 2008, Playing For Keeps Early Childhood Center provides a structured yet nurturing environment for children from 6 weeks through age 4. As an affiliate of the Longview Independent School District, the program emphasizes a play-based philosophy where children learn by doing. The center is currently housed in a historic campus building, with plans for a significant facility expansion following the 2024 bond election. Led by Director Dr. Lisha Fluellen, the facility maintains a high standard of quality as a Texas Rising Star 4-Star certified program. Parents benefit from an environment focused on child development and school readiness, supported by stable institutional oversight. The center provides full meals and snacks to all students and maintains a dedicated waitlist reflecting its strong local demand within the school district community.

My child LOVED PFK! I’m so sad we have to find another daycare because they aren’t accepting “outsiders…” I still would recommend this daycare 10/10

Playing for keeps is an overall good daycare but the employees need an attitude adjustment.

Web Report

Aggregated insights from public records & parent discussions

Safety Record

No safety concerns, closures, or major legal incidents were found in public records or news reports for this facility. The center is a Texas Rising Star 4-Star Certified Learning Program, representing the highest quality and safety certification level in the state's rating system. State licensing records identify it as a Full Permit facility (License #1487686) with no high-risk deficiencies reported in recent public summaries.

Parent Reputation

The center maintains a strong local reputation as a Longview Independent School District-affiliated facility, primarily serving district employees and students. While public online reviews are limited, high demand is evidenced by an active waitlist of approximately 75 students and plans for a significantly larger facility funded by a 2024 bond election. Parents in the community typically access this center through district enrollment channels rather than public platforms.

Staff Insights

The center is led by Director Dr. Lisha Fluellen and Assistant Director Cassandra Morgan. As a Longview ISD-operated facility, the staff are district employees who benefit from stable institutional oversight and a low teacher-to-child ratio. Specific employee reviews on platforms like Indeed or Glassdoor are not available for this individual center, though the 2024 bond report indicates the facility is currently at maximum capacity for staffing.
