I’ve been going to this gym for about four months now, and overall it’s been a great experience. The staff is friendly, helpful, and they consistently work to keep the facility clean. The workout areas are spacious, with a large variety of machines and free weights to fit just about any training style. I don’t personally use the club classes, but they offer plenty of options for people who enjoy group workouts. My favorite part, though, is definitely the pool area—there are multiple pools, and they’re always well maintained. The locker rooms and showers are also clean and comfortable, with dedicated male and female steam rooms, plus a unisex one by the pool. The only issue I’ve run into was last night near closing time. When I went to shower, the air smelled strongly like an ozone machine was running at a high level. I’m familiar with that smell from work, and it made my eyes burn and breathing uncomfortable. I’ve never had that problem before, even when staying until closing, so I just showered quickly and left. It wasn’t unsafe, but if the ozone level had been any higher it could’ve been. Overall, it’s still a fantastic gym with a lot to offer.
Charging $180 a month for a basic gym membership is straight-up ridiculous. I don’t care how much money someone makes — no regular gym experience is worth that unless you’re getting personal training, luxury spa services, or something truly premium. This feels less like fitness and more like a money grab. A lot of people are just trying to stay healthy, not get hustled. There are gyms all over this city offering solid equipment, clean facilities, and real value for a fraction of this price. When a gym prices itself this high without delivering anything extraordinary, it’s not “exclusive” — it’s out of touch. People deserve transparency and fair pricing, not inflated fees that take advantage of anyone who doesn’t read the fine print. Do better.
We recently hosted birthday parties for each of our kids at Lifetime, and each time we got nothing but rave reviews. There are a variety of activities to pick from (bounce house, gym games, swimming, rock climbing, etc), all of which the kids have a blast with. There is a dedicated party coordinator, Sarina, who is very organized and ensures you have the best time. On the day of the event, you get two party hosts who help decorate and keep everything running smoothly. Their cafe onsite provides the pizza as well as a variety of other food items you can add to customize your party. They are very easy to work with, you get a private party, and the kids have a blast. I can’t recommend them enough - truly a hidden gem in our area!
Lifetime Fitness is a luxury gym with superior facilities compared to local competitors, including steam room, dry sauna, and indoor/outdoor pools—ideal for swimmers. I frequent the location at Will Clayton and W. Lake Houston Pkwy. However, recent management changes have eroded value through strict policies, poor offerings, and neglected upkeep (especially locker rooms). I’ve provided feedback, but issues persist, including unreliable locks that frequently malfunction. I had one more class after a long time at the Pilates room. What a mess they have made it. Mirrors are not aligned or sized properly and equipment is not well maintained. Management has oddly converted office space into generic counter height workspaces, which feels irrelevant to fitness goals. Specialty training areas would make sense, but this seems like a misguided hotel-like concept. I kept my membership (was due to expire in October) solely for the ultimate personal trainer, Mariah Johnson (5/5). She excels at assessing needs from trial sessions onward, mastering nutrition, muscle balance, mobility, and flexibility—perfect for clients like me. Her humor is a bonus. Request her and say I sent you!
I absolutely LOVE this location. The staff is always so kind and the facility is ALWAYS clean. I am a germaphobe and I feel very confident walking barefoot throughout the pool area and the locker rooms. (I can't say the same for other locations.) They offer the best Birthday Parties for kids.( we've had 4 there in the last 2 years) Serina the party coordinator is so on top of absolutely everything! The party staff is so attentive and efficient. We will be hosting many more parties! They have such a great child care team at this location as well. Shannon is my kids favorite person to see. I'm a helicopter parent, and I have entrusted my children for over 2 years without a single incident. My kids always have a great time and the staff is always kind to them. They have a Basketball program, my son loves going! Coach Bowman is such a great coach and kind person. When I have family visit, I bring them and they are always welcome as if they are members themselves. I read some previous reviews and I have to strongly disagree!! I was sad to see people complain about the price because there are plenty of cheap gyms. But this is not just a gym there are so many amenities and you don't want it to be too cheap, because it would be overcrowded. This facility is very safe and I have never had an issue with worrying about my stuff being taken. I think some people need to be realistic, you get what you pay for. We are not wealthy and yet we make room in our budget for the things that benefit our family and we like to invest in companies that treat us well. We have always been treated very well at this facility by each and every staff member. The front desk staff is always so welcoming!!! I wish I could give 10 Stars!!
