About Life Time
Athletics-Focused Youth Camp at Life Time
Life Time Fitness Camp in Sugar Land provides an athletic-intensive environment for school-aged children. The program leverages a 109,000 square foot facility featuring indoor and outdoor pools, basketball courts, and a rock climbing wall. Children engage in diverse physical activities including structured swim lessons and gym-based games. The facility caters to school-age children (5-12) for camp, while the Kids Academy provides care for younger members. Snacks are provided as part of the program logistics. Parents should note the focus is on active movement and health-conscious habits rather than a traditional academic classroom. Access to these amenities is typically tied to club membership tiers. The space is bright and energetic, designed for high-capacity engagement under the supervision of the club's youth team. Staff-led activities encourage children to build new skills and remain active throughout the day within the club's specialized youth spaces and pools.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
This is the weight rack on a Saturday morning. ALL the weights are gone. Apparently they were being used for a class. If this was LA fitness, totally understand. This is Lifetime where you pay hundreds of dollars in membership. If weights are needed for a class, the gym should have extra weights rather than using all the free weights in the general area. “Sugarland Lifetime: We charge Lifetime prices and deliver Planet Fitness services.” *Side note, staff are all really nice people. Super helpful and always friendly :)
We liked Sugar Land LifeTime so far. But of recently, the new manager has been kicking out good instructors and cancelling good classes. we liked the strength training class by Ashley Murphy who was let go, even though she was a very good instructor. There was a good thursday yoga class by Hoda, which was also yanked off. Recently the prices were hiked too. But still the gym has been slashing good instructors and classes. It is all happened after the new Studio Manager hired. To add further, Yoga class by Hoda has been reduced to 45 mins now. I think thats not enough for yoga atleast given that first 15 mins and last 15 mins are mostly warm up and cool down, leaving only 15 mins of core yoga. Unfortunately, these reviews wont be looked by anyone higher up the corporate.
I was really sad to hear that Ashley is no longer working at this location. She was one of the most hardworking and caring instructors here. She truly cared about the members and the staff, always made everyone feel welcome, and was very motivating. You could really feel her passion, and she made a big difference in helping people stay healthy and consistent. It’s hard to understand why someone who gave so many years to this club and clearly cared so much would be let go. Ashley meant a lot to many of us, and it’s disappointing that member feedback didn’t seem to be taken into account. I hope management reflects on this and considers how important long-term, dedicated employees like Ashley and others are to the members and the overall community. On a side note, this location already feels different from other Lifetime Fitness locations, especially when it comes to maintenance and cleanliness.
I’ve been a member for over 10 years. One of the the highlights for me were the extraordinary group fitness classes led by Thais and Ashley. Ashley Murphy has been an award winning instructor multiple times over and always a kind, warm, positive human being. But, moreover, a fabulous coach and high quality fitness instructor who would always encourage and push us in all the best ways possible. Thais led my favorite spin classes! It was a highlight of my week to be in a room with her generous spirit, high energy music, and challenging routines. She was fired and has been and continues to be a great lose for Lifetime Sugar Land. Now the latest casualty is Ashley Murphy. Who very recently was fired for no reason. I am one of many people who can see this club in decline. And yet rates for membership keep going up! Please join me in telling the local management and corporate that they need to truly reconsider hiring back two of their best.
I have been a member of this club for more than 15 years. They recently wrongfully fired the best instructor they have Ashley Murphy. Ashley has been an integral part of this club’s identity and a major contributor to member satisfaction, retention, and long-term engagement. Her leadership, professionalism, and unwavering dedication have directly shaped the success of the group fitness program and have fostered a loyal community that many members consider irreplaceable. Her removal — without communication, transparency, or reasonable justification — has negatively impacted numerous members who have relied on her instruction, motivation, consistency, and expertise. Please bring her back

Safety Record
No recent major safety incidents or licensing violations specifically concerning the camp were identified. However, a documented news report from 2015 detailed an incident involving a masseur at the facility's spa who was investigated for sexual misconduct after a customer complaint. Additionally, the corporate parent was cited in 2017 for a data breach involving employee bank information that affected various locations including Sugar Land.
Parent Reputation
The facility has a reputation as a high-end, luxury athletic club with modern amenities, but it is frequently criticized for its high membership costs (reported between $200-$330/month) and difficult cancellation procedures. Parents on local forums and review sites often appreciate the 'Kids Academy' and camp as a benefit for active children, though some users note that the facility becomes extremely crowded during peak evening hours (4:00 PM – 8:00 PM).
Staff Insights
Employee reviews from the Sugar Land location, including those from summer camp counselors, describe the work environment as fast-paced and energetic, making it a popular 'stepping stone' for college-aged staff. However, multiple reviews cite management disorganization, frequent turnover, and low compensation for entry-level roles as consistent challenges.
