About Life Time
Life Time Kids Academy and Camps
Life Time in Allen provides a high-energy environment combining athletic development with academic enrichment. Managed by Director Joann Rice, the program operates within a 129,000-square-foot facility, giving children access to indoor and outdoor pools, gymnasiums, and a rock climbing wall. The Kids Academy and seasonal camps follow a screen-free philosophy, emphasizing physical activity alongside STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) projects. Families can choose from year-round academy sessions or structured summer and school-break camps. Enrichment extends beyond typical childcare, offering organized swim lessons, yoga, and field trips for school-age students. While the setting is a premium health club, the focus remains on fostering healthy habits and social development in a professional, energetic atmosphere. Children have access to dedicated learning stations and spacious play areas designed for high-motion engagement.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
I had access to another location for months and one day they removed it. Then they told me we had to spend an extra $100 a month to regain it. And briant at this location was very rude to my mother when she asked about the up charge. We’ve been members for a long time and this is how we get treated. The concierge at the other Lifetime took care of me and treated me with full respect, understanding my needs and helping me out.
The dance classes and instructors are great - highly recommend. Josh, Bryant, Stacia, and Darryl all keep you wanting to come back - and are really the only reason I kept the membership as long as I did. Natalie’s weight class is also really good. Unfortunately, the other services are seriously lacking. To start, I do not recommend the personal training - biggest waste of $800 of my life. Gilbert’s job is to sell you, then pass you off to their trainee (who shall remain nameless bc he tried, just doesn’t have enough experience) who is learning at your expense and generally clueless. Don’t do it. Also, Seth is completely clueless and is either faking incompetence so he doesn’t have to do anything - or truly is as dense as the glazed over look in his eye suggests. Trecie is wonderful, although she unfortunately seems to have to pick up the slack for Seth who prefers to stare off into space while you’re talking to him, or look at his phone while Trecie takes care of customer needs that he should be doing.
Absolutely love coming to this gym, and a big reason why is Os Ortiz! He’s always so welcoming, smiling, and genuinely kind every single time I walk in. His positive energy makes the gym feel comfortable and motivating, and it truly doesn’t go unnoticed. Customer service like this makes a huge difference—thank you for always being so friendly and making everyone feel at home! Huge shout out to OS ORTIZ!
Swim instructor Coach Stellan has made our experience here a fantastic one. He is one of the best swim coaches- attentive to detail and communicative regarding progress as we work on coaching my child’s to swim team. He goes above and beyond to build great relationships with his students and is an excellent role model. Coach Stellan is truly a star at the swim program at Lifetime Allen and we are very grateful to him.
The child care team is truly the highlight of this gym. Adrian is our favorite — he’s fantastic with the kids and consistently goes above and beyond. The Parents' Night Out events and kids' activities/classes are really well done and a big reason we continue coming. On the adult side, I’m disappointed with the number of group fitness classes that have been removed from the schedule. For the price we pay, there should be a consistent, reliable class offering. Pop-up classes don’t solve the problem — especially when they’re not given enough time to build momentum or attendance. I’ve stopped signing up through the app because it’s frustrating to see options disappear without warning. That said, the coaches who lead the adult classes are life changing. Zach, Amen, and Jeff (to name a few but they are all amazing) have truly made us better — both physically and mentally. They bring so much value, and we’re incredibly grateful for the effort and passion they bring to every session. Hoping to see more investment in keeping classes consistent — the talent is already there.
