About Pre-K 4 SA - North Education Center

Pre-K 4 SA North Center

Pre-K 4 SA North Education Center provides a high-quality, city-funded early education program using the HighScope curriculum. Our approach focuses on social-emotional cognitive development and active learning through discovery. The center is NAEYC accredited and led by master teachers, maintaining a consistent 1:10 adult-to-child ratio to support kindergarten readiness. The facility is specifically designed for exploration, featuring indoor learning yards, natural playscapes, and a dedicated music station. We offer a holistic environment with an on-site registered nurse and the CHEF program, where children learn nutrition through hands-on cooking. Families benefit from comprehensive logistics, including bus transportation with 5-point safety seats and an extended day program available until 6:00 PM for qualifying working families.

5 stars for the teachers and front desk area! Really loved the school for the most part. Ms Johnson, Ms Tomeka, Ms Garza, Ms Garcia and another one of the ladies with straight hair and glasses who helps in the mornings are incredible!!!! Even other teachers like Mr Guzman, Mr Yurt, Ms Rodriguez, Mr Vera Cruz, etc. are just wonderful. The teachers in these classes really care for their kiddoes! Took my son the two years and loved it One less star for the issues we had this year when we enrolled my daughter which was a whole different experience. I highly recommend anyone receiving services to get info including what days those will be and if not push for that info. Found out the last weeks of school my daughter had been going to speech for the last two months. Mind you I had been asking over the two months multiple people what days she was going with no answer simply asking what day it would start and the days they would do it. Speech finally gave me a call the last day of school just to cut me off Everytime I spoke and to continue to tell me I signed a paper for her to start speech. Obviously I did! That’s why I’m asking what days she was going. No progress notes were given and even in the phone call the therapist couldn’t remember what days my daughter was going. No sign out record of her going to these classes that the therapist herself wanted to tell me I should go look at to see her days she was there. Never found! We still haven’t recieved any info on the classes she was supposedly getting pulled out from. It’s concerning as her mother that no one in the building seems to recall when she was pulled out or able to provide me record of her being pulled out of class or records of anything she’s done during these classes. We haven’t received one single paper showing what she’s done other than the papers the therapist can provide me from BEFORE she started.

My kid went to Prek4SA, North center for PREK 3 and they charged me the complete fees. I asked them to let me know the ESL from the last week of the school year for PREK 4. Till August first week, the irresponsible organization staffs didn’t submit my documents for ESL. I even tried messaging the teachers from the prek3 to fix it but no use. The staff who manages the school affairs are such irresponsible that I was forced to withdraw my kid from the school as no ESL happened before school year started. Believe it or not, you decide whether to send your kid to a 1. Irresponsible 2. Uncommitted and 3. unaccountable School Management.

This was such an amazing, beautiful school year for my daughter. She had so much social and emotional growth- not to mention ruin she learned a ton. Her favorite thing was CHEF and she loved cooking the recipes for us at home. She also surprised us all when she found and identified a ladybug pupa and explained to us the whole life cycle of the insect. As a teacher myself there is nowhere else I would send my child to than prek4sa. Thank you for this wonderful program.

Update your policy about animals on campus... You don't have any. Today I was treated as if my 7week puppy was harming you all... And being asked by an officer to go put him in my hot car. Which I have brought him before and was told nothing and if someone would have told me the first time I never would have brought him again!!!!!!! Seriously like if I was some criminals making a scene with both the officers y'all are ridiculous! He wasn't aggressive or barking or going to anyone people asked me to pet him and he was on a leash. And in my hands..

PreK 4 SA is impeccable. My daughter attends school here and we have never had any issues at all. The teachers are well educated and so patient. The only downside is that they can be a little hyperactive when a child shows any sign of illness but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. If your child is going to go here try to get them in room 1. The lead teacher in that class has been the best advocate I could've ever asked for for my daughter. All the teachers in that class are simply amazing. I only have good things to say about the staff here.

Web Report

Aggregated insights from public records & parent discussions

Safety Record

State records for the North Education Center (License #1520783) show 11 total violations, including 5 high-risk and 2 medium-risk deficiencies. In April 2024, a center bus carrying 39 students hydroplaned and crashed on Loop 410, though no major injuries were reported; a subsequent city audit found the program had failed to properly document background checks for 15 of 15 contracted bus drivers. Additionally, a separate 2024 road rage incident involving an empty Pre-K 4 SA bus resulted in the death of a third-party driver.

Parent Reputation

Parents generally praise the program for its high educational standards and 'whole child' approach, though many express frustration over the strict financial eligibility requirements and the lottery-based waitlist, which reportedly had over 1,600 families in 2025. Discussion on parent forums frequently highlights the program as a top-tier choice for school readiness in San Antonio. Sentiment is overwhelmingly positive regarding child outcomes but mixed regarding accessibility for middle-income families.

Staff Insights

Employee reviews are polarized, with some staff describing an 'excellent' work environment focused on developmental appropriateness, while others at the North Center specifically report a 'toxic community of leadership' and issues with 'cliquey' management and favoritism. While pay and benefits are rated highly (4.0/5), management and culture receive lower scores (3.5-3.8/5) due to reported poor communication between corporate and site directors.
