Children’s Lighthouse at Cibolo Canyon STREAM Learning
Children’s Lighthouse at Cibolo Canyon provides a values-based educational environment where learning is driven by the proprietary Lighthouse Pathways curriculum. Led by Director Veronica Villalobos, the school caters to infants through school-age children, offering structured programs like the CARES curriculum for preschoolers and the BRIGHT program for infants. The facility is designed for both safety and engagement, featuring modern, bright classrooms and secure outdoor play areas including a specialized splash pad and play park. Families benefit from advanced security features such as the PB&J video monitoring system, which allows parents to observe their children's progress remotely. With additional services like before and after-school care and transportation to local elementary schools, this center supports busy families while focusing on social-emotional and cognitive growth.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
My child attended this daycare around the time he turned 7 months. He was only there about a month, and we could never recommend this place for any child. We got really good feelings about this place from reviews and our tour, but after a couple of weeks, we started noticing blatant neglect. We were told that they did not pick him up much because they were trying to make him more “independent”. I watched him stand up in his crib and cry, holding his hands out for anyone for 30 plus minutes without anyone even acknowledging him. I also saw him in a bouncer for an hour which is completely unacceptable. The teacher that was in the 6 month to 1 year class always looked frazzled and she seemed to take her frustration out on the babies. 6-7 month olds should not be treated the same as 12 month olds. Do not send your babies here unless they do not need to be loved or picked up and held. They let us out of our contract immediately because we had seen proof of neglect on camera.
Our littlest has been here for almost a year and we have other family that has trusted the Lighthouse for years before, so this place has always been another safe and friendly site that can ensure our youngest wellbeing and initial development. We will be here for the foreseeable future and will always recommend them. They are a military friendly team and always greet you with a smile when you come through the doors.
A big thank you to the owner and staff at Children's Lighthouse in Bulverde! Although our time there was short, it was truly wonderful. After being home with me for a year, I was a little worried about how my daughter would adjust. But from the moment we walked in, everyone welcomed her with open arms. She quickly adjusted and began looking forward to going every day. The center was always clean, the hallways smelled amazing, and the teachers were simply wonderful. They made my daughter feel so loved and taught her so much in a short time. We were accepted into the NEISD Pre-K program sooner than we expected, but my family and I will always be thankful for the positive experience they gave us. The extra driving time was absolutely worth it, and we will highly recommend Children's Lighthouse to everyone
We are so happy to have our son here. They always greet us with a smile and a hello. The teachers really care about the kids which is a great feeling. My son seems to enjoy his time there and is always happy at drop off and pick up. It’s a great feeling knowing your child is well taken care of while you’re away.
We just moved to the area from Houston, and enrolling our daughter at Children’s Light House has been the best decision we’ve made! From the moment she walks in, she’s all smiles and excitement. When we pick her up, she’s full of energy, trying to share all her baby words about the fun she had—it’s the cutest thing! You ask her if she likes school and she shouts, “YES!!!” The staff has made the transition so easy for all of us. We’re so grateful to have found a place where she feels safe, happy, and loved.

Safety Record
As of early 2025, this location was identified by ChildcareSanAntonio.com as one of the 'Top 10 Centers Needing Improvement' based on a Severity Risk Index (SRI) score of 1.52, with 16 total deficiencies including 7 high-risk and 5 medium-high-risk violations. Historical records from 2014–2015 detail high-risk incidents including a child exiting the facility unsupervised through the main door, unsecured chemicals (bleach and hand sanitizer), and lack of working smoke detectors. While no recent major news incidents were found, official data indicates ongoing monitoring by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission due to these safety and supervision deficiencies.
Parent Reputation
Parent sentiment is polarized between high praise for the STREAM-based curriculum and internet video monitoring and concern over operational consistency. Testimonials on the facility's website emphasize a clean environment and friendly staff, while third-party reviewers often cite issues with high teacher turnover and management responsiveness. Overall, families appreciate the educational focus and security features but note that the center is generally more expensive than local competitors.
Staff Insights
Employee reviews from Indeed and Glassdoor are largely negative, with a common rating around 3.0 out of 5 stars. Staff frequently report poor management, high teacher-to-child ratios, and low pay relative to the workload. Common themes in reviews include a lack of support from the director, high turnover rates, and management 'playing favorites,' though some teachers find the proprietary curriculum and working with children rewarding.
