About Primrose School of Round Rock

Primrose School of Round Rock

Primrose School of Round Rock implements the proprietary Balanced Learning approach, blending teacher-guided instruction with purposeful play for children aged six weeks to 12 years. Managed by franchise owners Chris and Shannan Rolfsen, the program emphasizes a foundation of 'Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts.' The curriculum integrates STEM, literacy, and character development using specialized 'Primrose Friends' tools. The center features age-specific classrooms and multiple shaded outdoor play areas. Tuition covers chef-prepared meals and snacks, supporting a consistent daily routine. Located near local elementary schools, the facility is designed for both academic preparation and social development, offering programs ranging from infant care to after-school explorers and summer camps. Parents report a highly structured environment that focuses on kindergarten readiness and social-emotional growth through dedicated character building lessons and daily routines.

My kid attended this daycare briefly. They told me that Ms. Joel, one of the assistants/teachers, grabbed their arm very tightly and hard. I immediately reported the incident to the director. Unfortunately, no action was taken,no apology, no follow-up, and no assurance that it wouldn’t happen again. The classrooms are also very crowded, with more than 23 children at times, which raises serious questions about proper supervision. Multiple times (more than three) when I picked up my kid, I saw other children crying on the floor in the playground area, with no staff member helping, comforting, or even acknowledging them. I also learned from another person that my own kid had been crying at the playground and was “grounded” (put in time-out), yet every single day when I asked the assistant teacher how their day went, she always replied that “everything was good” and never once mentioned any crying, distress, or disciplinary actions. Feeling that my child’s emotional and physical well-being was not being prioritized, I decided to withdraw them right away. I am very worried about the other children still attending. Parents should be extra careful and look for better options.

We have had a wonderful experience at Primrose at Round Rock and Great Oaks. My son has been here since he was 2.5 years old. We have been to many other daycares but the growth we have seen in our son both developmentally and socially, has been incredible here. He has gained confidence, made friends, and is excited and happy to go to school every day. He is now able to write and color at an age appropriate level, and we are so, so thankful for the nurturing and supportive environment. We also love all the fun community events they offer. Our son has enjoyed every event, and we are so grateful for how accommodating and supportive the staff has been, especially with his sensory and hearing needs. A special thank you to Mrs. Evelyn and Mrs. Aaliyah, Mrs. Monika, and Mrs. Reyes for the care, patience, and encouragement you have shown to our son. Your impact on his growth means more to our family than you know. We highly recommend Primrose to any family looking for an exceptional place that will treat your child like one of their own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As a first-time parent, the idea of sending our 3 month old (now 9 months) to daycare was nerve-wracking. The thought of leaving our baby with people we didn’t know was overwhelming—but from the very first day at Primrose, those worries started to fade. The teachers and staff at Primrose have been nothing short of amazing. They are so patient, caring, and clearly skilled at what they do. It’s such a comfort to know that our child is not only safe, but genuinely happy and thriving. Every morning, our baby lights up with smiles when we arrive—it’s the best reassurance any parent could ask for. Primrose has had a huge positive impact on our parenting journey. It’s helped us build confidence, create a healthy routine, and given us peace of mind that our baby is in the best hands. We’re so grateful for the nurturing environment the team has created. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making such a difference in our parenting journey!

We have had our daughter at Primrose Great Oaks since she was 3 months old and she has been thriving there ever since! The daycare workers and staff have been so loving and nurturing toward our baby girl—especially the infant and young toddler teachers! She is learning so much every day and is always happy there too! Highly recommend! P.S. We are aware of the recent incident involving former staff members, and we’ve been very impressed with how open and proactive the current management has been in addressing it. They’ve prioritized safety, made meaningful changes, and maintained clear communication with families. We continue to feel confident in the care and attention our daughter receives here.

My son has gone here since he was 5.5 months old. We have loved ALL of his teachers, from the infant classroom all the way up to his current class. We have always felt that he is truly cared for and loved by the amazing teachers here. Daycare is a part of our village, and we’re very thankful for Primrose!

As of early 2026, the facility has recorded 43 deficiencies over the past 60 months out of 5,012 standards evaluated by Texas Health and Human Services (Operation ID: 1523143). These records include one administrative penalty and a required corrective action plan, though the latest full monitoring inspection on November 6, 2025, found the school 100% compliant. Parent Reputation

Parents generally report a positive experience, often citing the Balanced Learning curriculum and how well it prepares children for kindergarten. Reviews frequently mention specific teachers by name with high praise for their nurturing and patient approach, particularly with infants and toddlers. While overall sentiment is strong, some parents express concern regarding the high staff turnover common in national childcare chains.

Staff Insights

Employee feedback is mixed, with an overall rating of approximately 3.1 stars. Recent reviews from 2023 and 2024 describe management and ownership as 'unsupportive' and 'manipulative,' citing high stress and inadequate pay. However, some teachers highlight the rewarding nature of working with the children and a friendly, engaging environment in earlier years.
