About Callier Child Development

Callier Child Development Program Dallas

The Callier Child Development Program provides a nurturing, inclusive environment for infants through pre-kindergarten children. Integrated with the UT Dallas Callier Center for Communication Disorders, the program allows children of all abilities to learn and play together. The curriculum uses the Frog Street Press system, emphasizing communication skills, physical development, and social-emotional growth in a therapeutic setting. Operating since 1988, the facility features a dedicated building for infants and toddlers alongside a preschool center. Safety is managed through restricted badge access and professional oversight. As a NAEYC-accredited program, Callier offers unique resources for children with hearing and speech disorders, making it a premier choice for families seeking research-backed early intervention and high-quality child care.

I waited for a long time for movement on the waiting list for enrollment at this school as a faculty member at UTSW. We had a very nice teacher with extensive experience with kids and she a gentle approach toward our child. However, the recurring issue common to many daycares persists here — after 3 pm, children interact with different staff members. While some are genuinely nice, others tend to be loud and less gentle, though not necessarily displaying a bad attitude. Our decision to switch from another daycare to this one was prompted by the positive aspects, but I don't think it made a huge difference. I haven't observed any notable advantages compared to daycares within a similar price range. Given the high demand for this daycare due to its proximity to UTSW, I don't think they care much about parent's concerns, because there is always another faculty member's kid to fill that spot.

They put my one year old boy in a pony tail and then told us, once he turned 2, he would be forced to wear a face mask. They also justified not allowing children to play on the play ground, under parental supervision, because 'Only Callier staff are qualified to watch children and safety is their highest concern.' (paraphrase). I think they survive because the wealthy send their kids there and they highlight all the college degrees the staff has.
