About Aldea Verde Preschool
Aldea Verde Spanish Immersion Preschool
Aldea Verde is a Spanish immersion, indoor/outdoor school where children are encouraged to explore, play, and get messy. The program’s daily rhythm is inspired by a blend of Montessori, Waldorf, High Scope, and Decroly philosophies, designed to meet the individual interests of toddlers and preschoolers. The curriculum focuses on creative play and living experiences, allowing children to develop independence while becoming naturally bilingual in a warm, multicultural environment. Founded by Luisi Westigard, an educator with over 19 years of experience in pedagogy and early childhood development, the school emphasizes a natural growth environment. The space is thoughtfully designed with indoor and outdoor classrooms, nature-inspired play areas, and art-focused activities. Parents value the school’s dedication to cultural celebrations—including traditions from Mexico and Peru—and its commitment to letting children learn through direct interaction with their world.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
Words cannot express how special Aldea Verde is to me and my family. We have been attending since April 2021, and the preschool has become a home away from home to my kids. Luisi, Mariani, and all of the teachers work so hard every day to love and care for each student. They go above and beyond to meet students' individual needs. I cannot recommend them enough. My kids have learned to speak Spanish, of course, but also how to make friends, get messy, think creatively, paint, sing, dance, garden, perform publicly (thanks to the many shows they put on each year for the parents!), and enjoy being outside no matter the weather. They have learned about other countries' traditions and foods by participating in school-wide celebrations for Holi, Chinese New Year, Peruvian Independence Day, and the list goes on. When we were looking for daycare options, I couldn't believe the flexibility that Aldea Verde offers! We started at 2 half days per week, worked our way up to full time, and never looked back. We are so thankful for the gift of being an AV family.
Aldea Verde is a vibrant, special place. The teachers are loving and wonderful. They work so hard so make a magical environment for the kids full of creativity, dancing, singing, and learning. My boys were loved, celebrated, and well cared for.
Aldea Verde is a "gem" of a pre-school. Our daughter is in her final year there however we are not ready to leave. Luisi and her staff are warm, loving, nurturing and fun to all the kids. The kids come home dirty, painted, with rocks or crickets but most importantly with a smile everyday. I cannot say enough good things about Aldea Verde. I often wondered how long little kids cry for at drop-off and witnessed the most wonderful event at Aldea Verde recently. A little one was crying, one of the staff asked if he would like Luisi to sing him a song, he said yes so he was taken to Luisi and sat on her lap and a song was sung. Within seconds, he had stopped crying and started engaging with other kids. Kids are loved, have fun, get to explore and learn creatively. The best pre-school staff I've ever engaged with
Aldea Verde is easily the best place I have had my children in care. The director and all of the teachers are genuine, honest, easy to talk to, and organized. The atmosphere is wholesome and enriching and allows children to learn through play and exploration and experimentation. They spend tons of time outside and keep animals and are not worried about letting the children get dirty (as children should). I never feel rushed out the door or brushed off as I have at other places. They will tell me anything and everything I want to know about my son's day. And, as an added bonus, my 2 year old is learning the foundations he needs to be bilingual. I was somewhat afraid the exclusive Spanish environment might be an obstacle or make my son feel uncomfortable, but I couldn't have been more wrong. It has never been a problem, but an asset and my son LOVES his teachers. I would recommend this school VERY highly to anyone who is looking.
My son is an Aldea Verde graduate. He is now at St. Francis and we were told his reading and math skills are the best in the class. He is also completely fluent after two years at school. We moved our son to AV because his previous, highly structured school, was just not meeting jiving with him. We could not have been more content with Ms. Luisi and her affection for my son is obvious and genuine. She supported us as we dealt with exploring food allergies and learning styles and he is a much happier and well adjusted child for having her support. Did I mention my 5 year old is fluent in Spanish and top of his private school class?
