About St. Pius X Early Care and Education Center
St Pius X Early Care Center
St Pius X Early Care and Education Center is a long-standing, community-focused program serving children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. The curriculum follows a play-based philosophy rooted in social, emotional, and cognitive development. The facility is equipped with specialized classrooms for different age groups, including Pre-K3 and Pre-K4, ensuring that activities are developmentally appropriate and engaging for every child. Parents appreciate the center's accessibility, as it accepts CCMS subsidies and provides both daily meals and transportation for school-age students. The environment is described by families as well-managed and structured, with a long-tenured leadership team including Director Angie McDonough. Children enjoy a large outdoor playground and participate in supervised group activities, such as "splash days" during the summer months, all within a facility secured by gated entry points and access control protocols for peace of mind.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
Such a great place! The teachers truly care about the children and they always have the most fun and cute activities. If you contact them ask for Mrs. Rosa she is amazing!
This child care center is amazing. The staff are accommodating and try to work with parents to help the children thrive! The front desk staff is great at informing parents on what activities are going on and answer any questions that the parents have. The center is clean and the classrooms are very well managed. Overall this is a great preschool to attend. The staff is very loving with the children and do their best to care for them!
worst daycare experience ever. This is my first time having my kids in a daycare and first they lose my kids shot records . My second day in they asked me why my twins aren’t urinating I asked them, have they had any water? They look at me and no response and I ask a second time and they told me they haven’t had any water just milk one time for “ lunch” at 11 it was 3pm. One lady informed me “ splash day” is Tuesday and I show up this week and now all of a sudden it’s only on Wednesdays. I show up at 10am having them in a swimsuit again and now they wanna say it’s over and that it was from 9-10 it would’ve been great to know!!! But of course nobody informed me the specific times and the owner wants to blame me telling me it’s my job as a parent to ask questions . What is their job then? Isn’t their “ job” to inform information to the parent? The worker could’ve told me splash day is from this time to that time the day she told me splash day was Wednesday but she didn’t now it’s my fault. My girls lasted 4 days here what a joke!! My girls cried every time we pulled into the parking lot probably mistreated my girls!!!! Dont bring ur kids here!!
As a mom who had her baby stuck to her side since birth my 18 month old baby started his child care journey and it was rough but now he is taking each day better than the last the staff has been great to my son they listened to my concerns and advice to help him calm down they even have an app that you can message the teachers and ask for updates he always comes back clean I was worried he would cling to me at drop offs but has no problems going with the teachers on duty Ms. Rosa is always so helpful and Ari has been awesome with updates Alexis and Angie have also been very informative and Angie even has updated me on my childs status before as well I love that they respond within a reasonable amount of time I don’t do reviews much but they definitely deserve it
This place is pretty great. The Director is wonderful and the teachers are nice and do a pretty good job with the kids. The building is a bit rundown but that doesn't detract from the education they provide. Most of the negative reviews I see seem to be disgruntled parents who don't understand how a preschool is run and what to expect from early education daycare. My son is autistic and he has flourished there. He was in speech therapy when he started and barely spoke and after 4 months there the progress with his speech was mind-blowing. The preschool has been helpful, understanding and accommodating. It also is cheaper than most others in the area which is great. All in all if you don't have a stick up your butt and ridiculously stupid expectations, this is a great choice. I used to work as a preschool teacher and I think they do a wonderful job.

Safety Record
In 2006, the Dallas Catholic Diocese settled a lawsuit involving the sexual abuse of at least 13 girls by two employees at the St. Pius X daycare in the 1990s and early 2000s; both men were subsequently imprisoned. Current licensing records show the facility (Operation #1582076) holds a full permit valid through September 1, 2025, with no recent high-profile safety incidents or news reported. The center maintains a capacity of 178 children and implements a secure entry system with gated access.
Parent Reputation
The center maintains a generally positive reputation with a 4.2-star rating on Care.com based on five reviews. Parents frequently praise the teachers for being patient and kind, while noting that the facility is 'stricter on rules' than other options. However, one review explicitly claims the center is unprofessional and discriminates against children with special needs, specifically mentioning a lack of accommodation for autistic children.
Staff Insights
Employee reviews on Indeed specifically for the Mesquite branch describe it as a 'very well managed facility' where staff learn strong work ethics. Broader reviews for the St. Pius X organization indicate a 'sense of belonging' and happiness among staff, though some mention areas for improvement in pay and location flexibility. Executive leadership includes Director Carolyn Boros and Executive Director Angie McDonough, who have been with the center for several years.
