About Kinney Avenue Christian Preschool

Kinney Avenue Christian Preschool in Zilker

Kinney Avenue Christian Preschool (KACP) has served the Zilker community in South Austin since 2015, accommodating up to 133 children from infancy through age five. The program employs a play-based curriculum including Frog Street and Learning Without Tears, alongside Lifeway’s faith-based 'Growing in God’s Word' lessons. Weekly chapel gatherings and community-focused events like Thanksgiving programs define the school's inclusive, faith-centered atmosphere. The facility features specialized classrooms such as the 'Turtles' and 'Leapfrogs,' complemented by a custom indoor play area and outdoor shaded spaces. Director Patricia Leslie has led the center for nearly a decade, prioritizing parent communication via the Procare app, which provides real-time updates on child activities and photos. Enrichment activities such as Kinderdance and Sportball are integrated into the school day, offering parents convenience while expanding the educational experience for students.

Update: Changing my review from 5 stars to 1. Unfortunately our time at KAPC came to a very bad end. Our 17 month old son suffered a bad injury at school that required 6 weeks in a cast then 8 weeks in a brace, and we were very, very troubled by the surveillance video to see how he was treated and spoken to by his teachers, and then to see how the directors handled the situation afterward defended the teachers’ actions. We swiftly went from feeling like valued members of the KAPC community to liabilities who were not deserving of honesty, care, or respect. We would not return to KAPC and would not recommend it because of this experience. There are some wonderful people and teachers at KAPC but depending on what class you land in and what interactions you have with management, you will have a very good or very bad experience. It was heartbreaking and completely emotionally exhausting to have things change for the worse so drastically and suddenly. ___ I love the directors and have a lot of trust in them. We’ve had such kind, caring teachers for our 2 kids and they are always so excited to go to school and see her teachers and friends and have fun. They also recently built an amazing new indoor play area for the kids! LOVE the flexibility of schedule - pick the number of days that work for your fam + length of days too. Communication is great - daily pics, updates on how the kids are doing, great communication and many reminders about important days and holiday events, etc. It’s an added bonus that there are so many other sweet families at this school! It’s a great community.

We've been at KACP for two years and are so grateful for this school. Our kids are loved, the curriculum is creative and engaging, and the teachers and administrators are joyful and kind. We especially love weekly chapel and the Christian environment that shapes everything that goes on at the school. We have made great friends and continue to spread the word to families looking for full day, year round preschool. We are so glad our kids are at KACP!

KACP has been such a blessing for my family. My youngest one started school when she was 8 months & the teachers are AMAZING!! They love our children as their own. The directors are also the best they work with our schedule. My son is also ASD & they go above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and safe. I am very grateful I found this school & definitely highly recommend KACP to all the families. I couldn’t ask for a better preschool with loving teachers.

We absolutely love KACP and everyone that works there. Our teachers are kind, nurturing, extremely communicative, and treat our little as if he was their own. The facilities are impressive compared to everywhere else we visited. Lots of fun activities get planned all throughout the year. The director and other administration have been so easy to work with and you can tell are involved with every class.

My family has loved our son getting to attend Kinney Avenue Christian Preschool. This was the exact preschool setting that I was looking for, and the teachers have all been the best. We added extended coverage during the school year and do not attend in the summer months. I am thankful for the friends that my son has made as a toddler, and the experiences that Kinney provides. The teachers are so caring and know his personality so well.
