About Goodwill Central Texas Community Center

Goodwill Exploration Center Early Learning

Established in 2014, the Goodwill Exploration Center serves both student-parents and the broader Austin community using a dual-generational approach. The program utilizes the Frog Street developmental learning curriculum, which emphasizes growth through play and structured exploration. As a designated Texas Rising Star 4-Star Provider and NAEYC accredited center, the facility is committed to high-level early education standards that exceed basic licensing requirements. Located within the Goodwill Central Texas Community Center, the facility provides modern environments designed specifically for early childhood development. Lead teachers at the center are required to hold at least a bachelor's degree, ensuring a high standard of care and kindergarten readiness. While the program primarily supports the Excel Center adult high school, it also offers sliding scale fees and scholarships to make quality childcare accessible to families in the North Austin area.

I bought a book off Amazon here and it got delivered to the jail my boyfriend was at in Mississippi but the jail never gave it to him, they won't return my calls, and it wasn't in his property. I have been asking goodwill to help me and they just keep asking the same questions over and over again that I have already answered. 0/10 would not recommend.

Dear Goodwill Management, I am writing to report an incident that occurred during my recent visit to the South Austin Goodwill store, involving a manager named Heather. My experience was extremely disappointing and troubling, and I believe it warrants immediate attention from your management team. Today, my son and I visited the store with the intention of purchasing a toy. Upon discovering a damaged toy that did not work properly, I approached the cashier to inquire about the possibility of receiving a discount due to the item's condition. During this interaction, Heather, who I later learned is a manager at the store, intervened in a manner that was both unprofessional and rude. Heather insisted on being part of the conversation, questioning the validity of my request for a discount. When I explained the situation to her, she dismissed my explanation as insufficient, implying that I needed to provide a more acceptable reason. I pointed out that other customers were not required to justify damaged items they wished to purchase, nor were they subjected to the same level of scrutiny. Furthermore, during my time in the store, I witnessed Heather's disrespectful behavior towards her employees. She spoke to them in a demeaning manner, treating them as if they were less than human. This kind of conduct not only reflects poorly on Heather as a manager but also on Goodwill as a whole. As a loyal customer who values the mission and values of Goodwill, I find it deeply concerning that someone like Heather is in a leadership position within your organization. Employees should be treated with dignity and respect, and customers should not be subjected to unnecessary scrutiny and rudeness. I urge you to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to address Heather's behavior. Goodwill's reputation as a charitable and community-focused organization is at stake, and it is crucial to uphold the standards of professionalism and respect at all levels. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding the steps taken to rectify this situation.

So I have been using this facility for at least 7 years. When I was homeless, Living in my truck in Norwood Walmart Parking lot, this was my first resource. I did ECHO intake and was on the wait-list. Throughout this time there was a "Nice Lady",( as I called her), working there. She has a caring spirit for all and genuine in her efforts to help. Today as I visited,I realized, I didn't even know her name. So as I was describing how nice a person she is,she popped up. MS. DEION, I thank you for all you do for so many. May the gates of heaven,be flooded with the spirits of those you have helped. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
