About The Lighthouse School of Excellence - Willis

Christ-Centered Learning at The Lighthouse School

Founded in 2003, The Lighthouse School of Excellence is an independent, faith-based program serving the Willis and Conroe communities. The school integrates biblical values with the academic Frog Street and Abeka curricula, focusing on a child's spiritual, cognitive, and physical development. Located near I-45, the facility provides a home-like environment featuring specialized learning centers for art, reading, science, and dramatic play, alongside a dedicated gym and secure outdoor playgrounds. The program accommodates children from six weeks old through age twelve, including before and after-school care with transportation to local Willis and New Waverly elementary schools. Students benefit from a structured daily schedule that includes group time, outdoor exploration, and nutritious meals provided on-site. Enrichment partnerships with Soccer Shots and Nutty Scientists offer additional opportunities for children to explore STEM and physical fitness in a supportive setting.

Told us three weeks ago we were on the wait list yet today we are told our kid can’t go there because he isn’t fully potty trained!!!! Very disappointing!!!! We didn’t bother to put him on another wait list because we were told they could get him in!! How outrageous that yall can’t handle helping kids with potty training!! Absolutely insane!!! It’s a struggle as it is for us parents then you go and do this!? Shame on you!

The worst day care . If i could give zero star i would. These people are racist. They don’t care about your child at all, all they want is your money. They never respond to messages in their app. My kids got bullied few times in front of teachers faces and they laughed it off. Didn’t say a word to me. One of their white students even called me ugly & the teachers laughed.I didn’t even do anything to that kids, i was only there to pick up my child.I had to pull my child asap. If you’re not white or are friends with the teachers please be careful with your kids in their care. Someone told me this prior & i thought maybe it was a misunderstanding between them but i was wrong. Do your child a favor and find a different day care.

I have been bringing my kids to the daycare for about five years. But it seems like recently, they have changed their approach to their customers or it might be just towards me. Lately they have been very unprofessional to the point that they turned down my kids because they said they were understaffed, but it seems like I was the only one home they told that to. The staff in the front office are very condescending and treat me and my parents with little respect, maybe because of our accents. The last drop was today when I came to the office to voice, my complains, and before I could take three steps out of the office, I could hear them laughing and make fun of me. I will not accept that and I will not bring my kids here any longer .

I wanted to wait a while before I shared our experience with light house. My son started here in Aug and was dismissed by Oct.. Everyone was REALLY NICE here teachers/directors. Honestly it wasn't a good fit for him and that's okay, our son was TOTALLY different while attending here, we pulled him out of his last school and into this one for a more structured environment but it didn't work for him AT ALL he was being a little terror while attending here WHICH WE NEVER EXPERIENCED at his previous school before, we didn't know what it was, we attended many director conferences while attending here and was shown video of his emotional outburst and we tried everything but ultimately it boiled down to the school just not being a good fit for our kid. I just want to offer up some encouragement if u experience this because we felt just overwhelmed/discouraged for the two months we were there. The directors tried to work with us but after so many infractions he was dismissed from here. I took him to his doctor which was recommended by one of the directors to try to see if a behavioral specialist was needed and she told us that one was not needed and she believed it was just not a fit for him, some times you have to try different schools she seen and delt with alot of parents going through the exact same thing. Ultimately that's what we did and THANK GOD we haven't had ANY PROBLEMS so stay encouraged if it doesn't work out here just try somewhere else.

I love this school! My kids have been going for over a year now and I have NEVER had a bad or questionable experience here. I had tried other local daycares before the lighthouse and left those others with in the first week. The staff is friendly and caring. My 2 year old can sing her ABC’s, can count up to 20 and knows her colors. Not only is it a fun and loving environment but the curriculum works to. I can’t forget to give a shout out to Ms. Maria, who makes the best breakfast and lunches for the kids. My kids eat better at school than at home, and I’m a good cook, I promise!
