About The Village Learning Center

The Village Learning Center Jersey Village

The Village Learning Center is a family-owned program in Jersey Village that has served the community since 1979. Led by an owner with a Master’s in Educational Leadership and nearly a decade of experience as an elementary principal, the center emphasizes academic readiness and character development. Toddlers follow the Appelbaum curriculum, while Pre-K students utilize the Superkids program to ensure they are fully prepared for Kindergarten. Beyond academics, the center focuses on creating a secure and nurtured environment. The facility features locked front entry with parent keypad access and classroom cameras monitored from the office. A major highlight is the nutrition program; unlike many centers, all meals including breakfast and lunch are homemade on-site. For older children, the center provides before and after school care with dedicated transportation to local schools, alongside an active summer camp program filled with weekly themed adventures.

I wanted to love this place and it’s been 2 years since we were there but i’m finally ready to leave my review/experience to help any moms!! My 3 month old at the time had a horrible experience at this place. First red flag I had was when I was called to pick him up due to fever and he was left alone in a crib while I arrived. What if his fever had spiked? Second instance was how bad of a rash he had because they only did hourly diaper changes and he had been going #2 multiple times an hour around that time. To the point his skin was peeling. Third and final straw was how hoarse he sounded clearly from crying all day. Please trust your mom gut and keep searching 🙏🏼

Both my children have been at The Village Learning Center since 3 months of age. We have only ever experienced great communication from ALL staff members and management. We are told immediately if anything of concern (i.e. illness going around, hiccups in behavior, etc.) is going on within the daycare or with our children in particular. My kids are always picked up clean and happy and only ever come home with positive stories. I have never had to worry about the safety or well-being of my kiddos while they are at The Village. When behaviors are not great, staff and management provide ways to reinforce good behavior at home so the behavior at school can improve. They have never put my children down for bad behaviors, only encouraged them to behave in a more positive manner. They know and understand that kids will be kids! It has always been obvious that my children are loved and cared for by staff/management. The staff even makes effort outside of daycare hours to support the kids. For example, attending birthday parties! LOTS OF BIRTHDAY PARTIES. One of my children just started kindergarten and she was more than prepared, from both an academic and behavioral stand point. The curriculum is great and above average for a “daycare”. I have referred many friends to The Village and will continue to do so because it’s a great and safe atmosphere for kids! ❤️

I’ve waited a bit to write this review to make sure I was level headed when I did. I came in for a tour and after talking with the director, Erica, I didn’t get the best first impression but tried to brush it off as my own nerves about my little one starting daycare. I tried to bring up some concerns about my child starting daycare since it would be their first time and she was quick to let me know that if a child couldn’t handle being within ratio without extra support then this may not be the day care for them. Fast forward to my child’s first day and at pick up I was met with tears. The director let me know that my child had had a rough day and again reiterated the ratio policy with an obvious attitude. If they were having such a rough day a better solution would’ve been to call a parent rather than spend all day being upset with a child. I dropped off a happy 3 year old and went home with one who cried most of the evening and didn’t want to talk or have anything to do with the daycare. As the week went on my child was able to start sharing more of their experience which included multiple time outs and mentions of their tip toeing which is out of my child’s control. My child was told that they were “breaking mommy’s heart” every time they were not behaving which is emotional manipulation in my eyes. We’re now struggling with nap time at home and now everyday is met with tears and frequent crying for me to stay near. If your child has been in day care and has never had issues then this might be the place for them but if you’re expecting them to have compassion for a child who has never been in daycare then you definitely won’t find it here.

Both my daughters attended VLC and we can't be happier with the dedication and care all the teachers have provided so far. My younger one started in the infant room and she's currently going to the toddlers room. Ms. Erica is superb in managing the overall administration. Ms. Edna is fantastic!! And how can we forget about Ms. Olga who took such great care of my little one. She still does :)

My daughter has been going to the Village since she was 6 weeks old and it has been absolutely AMAZING! The staff is absolutely PERFECT! My daughter is now 14 months old and is way ahead of the normal level for age. Mrs. Olga has been in the nursery for 30 years and knows babies for sure. My daughter LOVES her teachers & the directors. I HIGHLY recommend this facility... you can definitely TRUST them!!
