About The PlaySpace

The PlaySpace Hourly Drop-In Child Care

The PlaySpace offers a unique, flexible childcare solution in Fort Worth, focusing on unstructured, imaginative, and developmentally-rich play. Founded by Katherine Howell, a former Speech-Language Pathologist with clinical experience at a children’s hospital, the center provides a stimulating environment where children can thrive socially and cognitively. The facility is designed for active exploration, featuring an indoor jungle gym, a movie room, and dedicated sensory play areas. Operating as a state-licensed, hourly drop-in facility, it caters to parents needing temporary care for errands, appointments, or date nights. The program maintains rigorous safety standards with FBI background checks and CPR certification for all staff members. While not a full-time daycare center, it offers extended evening and Saturday hours, charging by the minute to ensure families only pay for the specific time they use.

As a parent one of the most nerve wracking things you can do is trust someone to care for your child. I am a first time mom and constantly anxious when leaving my daughter with anyone. The Playspace made me feel calm and confident leaving my daughter. Every time I come and pick her up she is happy and engaged. The level of care and thoughtfulness the owner has instilled in her staff and the space is apparent in everything. We are so happy to have this as a childcare option.

Highly recommend The PlaySpace for your next kid birthday party! I ended up booking the space last minute due to cold/rainy weather. Lindsey was very easy to work with and accommodating. Marsha was the person who helped with the party on the day of and she was all hands on deck to help out wherever we needed her. Great with the kids and just all around sweet lady! My son's party was awesome and everyone had a great time!

Very clean space and just the right size for a drop in play center. The staff called me when my son (he's 2) was inconsolable and made me feel like they really tried to comfort him while he was there. He did fine after the reassurance they gave him. I appreciated the staff listened to my instructions for my sons nap time and also I noticed they made sure the older kids were careful when younger children were in their same play area. That really worried me when I chose this drop in center but seeing that first hand really made me feel more comfortable with dropping my son off here in the future.

I feel so lucky to have found this place. I am a hairstylist in DFW and this is probably THE MOST convenient daycare situation in Fort Worth. I dropped in last night for my son’s first experience (19months old) with other kids and being left alone without mommy and daddy and all I can say about how it went was -FLAWLESS. he had a hard time and I picked him up within the hour but the employees there made me feel like we could do this. They didn’t make it seem like a big deal and they were more than willing to work with him through his struggles. They made us feel so comfortable and welcome and I’m just feeling so lucky to have found this place. Today was day 2 and he lasted a little bit longer, but my own anxiety made me go pick him up. Everyone there today was a different set of employees & AGAIN I felt so welcome and encouraged.

I bring my son here maybe once a week when I need to teach a last minute class or run errands. I love the girls here and how they treat my son. He has trouble speaking, and is extremely shy around other kids. He’s 2 but still only says a few words, he had very severe tongue ties and he had surgery on to correct. I wanted him to learn to socialize and open up more, so that was my main reason for bringing him here. There are times when he’s overwhelmed with noise and they take the time to comfort him, put headphones on him, etc. All the ladies working here are super nice and they are so great with kids. My son used to cry when I would leave and now he runs right in. 🥲 It’s nice to see him becoming more social and it’s all thanks to the ladies that work here. 🫶
