About Hillside Early Childhood Center
Hillside Early Childhood Center at Woodland
Hillside Early Childhood Center provides a nurturing, child-directed environment on an expansive campus in Southeast Austin. Our curriculum is rooted in play-based learning that fosters social-emotional and cognitive development for children ages 6 weeks to 4 years. We avoid restricted equipment like bouncers for infants, allowing free movement to explore open-ended materials. As a NAEYC Accredited and Texas Rising Star 4-Star provider, our program integrates literacy, math, and science through experiential projects, such as building multi-day dinosaur habitats. Founded in 2018 as part of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd community, our center focuses on kindergarten readiness through observation and individualized planning. We maintain a strong connection between home and school, supported by a large team of specialized educators.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
It was a pleasure working with Suzanne today. Glad we were able to help in the process of cleanup for the kiddos.
Hillside is an amazing school with teachers that go above and beyond for the babies and kids! We have little ones in our family that go there and it’s been a wonderful experience! We have been at Hillside the last 8 years. The staff is professional, educated, and kind. The kids have so much fun learning, both inside and outside. Hillside has a gorgeous outside area with lots of play space. I highly recommend them!
They only care about licensing and following protocol, not about the kids. Teachers have spanked kiddos as young as the clover classroom. Staff is also extremely discriminatory towards low income families and discuss their private lives, paraphernalia, use curse words, etc in-front of the kids. You may think this review was made out of hate, but if you love your children, please take this into consideration and try to imagine what goes on behind the fake smiles and brightwheel updates. That is why Hillside is one of the only daycares with no cameras in the classrooms. They gossip about parents and kids infront of other kids in the class, going so far as telling kids not to play with certain kids. Completely unacceptable, please think twice before enrolling or donating.
Really can't say enough good things about Hillside. We've had our 5 month old daughter there (our first kiddo) for a little over 2 months now and it's been just the best experience for both her and us. It's incredibly obvious how much everyone there cares and beyond that they are all extremely kind, professional and everything you'd want out of people looking after your little guy or girl. We had to wait a little bit before she could get in but even that process was fair and communicative throughout. We're excited for her to grow and learn with everyone there for these years to come. While my experience with this is limited, I truly feel like we got lucky finding Hillside.
We are so lucky to have Hillside ECC in our neighborhood. They go above and beyond to provide an experience that fun, nurturing, and educational. It's obvious that the teachers truly love what they do. They are more than just teachers, they are friends of our child and our family. They have created a well thought out curriculum and give me daily updates on my child's development and interests. I feel like I get a wonderful glimpse into his day when I can't be there. As an added bonus, they have an amazing music program filled with singing, dancing and learning about instruments. There is no greater testimonial to a school than when your child is excited to go.
