About Star Center Gymnastics
Star Center Gymnastics After School Program
With over 25 years of history in the community, Star Center Gymnastics provides a family-oriented environment where kids can develop confidence through movement. Led by Afterschool Director Elizabeth James, the program balances structured gymnastics lessons with free play, arts and crafts, and dedicated homework time. The facility features a large indoor gym, training pits, and a private party room, ensuring a high-energy space for children to spend their afternoons. The program is designed to be inclusive and non-rigid, catering to each child's individual personality and athletic goals. Beyond the standard after-school pickup from local elementary schools like Baranoff and Cowan, Star Center offers specialized skill classes, all-day camps during school holidays, and popular Kids' Night Out events. Parents appreciate the blend of physical activity and reliable logistics, making it a staple for active families in the Slaughter Lane area.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
The way these drivers operate, parents should genuinely be concerned for their children’s safety. I was clearly in my lane and a van with this companies name, logo and phone number didnt stop to look and just pulled directly out in front of me from a business parking lot. I had to swerve into the other lane to avoid a serious accident that could have killed myself, my child in the car as well as the children in the van. If you’re a parent who uses this business to assist with after school transportation I seriously urge you to reconsider as today was a clear indication their drivers dont care about the safety of the children in their care.
The place smells like feet… We went to the preschool trail class. The only reason I gave 4 star is the teacher Liz is so nice. I really want to like this place and it is so close to my home. I suggest raise the price a little bit and spend money on cleaning!!!
The facility is dirty, class sizes are large (especially for younger children who need more attention/guidance), and teachers are inconsistent - I think my daughter had a different instructor every other class. There are many other gymnastics places in Austin, most of which have waitlists. There is a reason this place does not have one. I'd recommend waiting for a spot to open at a better facility.
Great program, however both 1st floor and 2nd floor are always filthy and stink really bad. Restrooms are always bad too. They seem to be doing really well, so perhaps hire a professional deep cleaning crew at least once or twice a month?
Just had a birthday party here for a 7-year-old girl and the kids all had so much fun! There is plenty of equipment to keep kids entertained. Best part is that the staff is wonderful with the kids. They set up an obstacle course and ran a few different games. Like I said, every kid had a blast!
