I will pray that the expectations lie on my guardian angel from college, who was a greek orthodox history professor. That is not however my experience with this particular church. I’ve found this congregation to be paranoid beyond reason. On three different occasions, in front of my teenage son, I’ve heard racist rants that I had to explain. Any questions lead to immediate excommunication, and anyone who doesn’t submit, including family, gets isolated through slanderous accusations. Where I’m from, we call that a cult. I say this as the son of a preacher and I know a cult when I see it because two members of my family were in a cult throughout most of my childhood and it ripped my family to shreds. With all due respect, this is why people fear christian theocracy. We can do better. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Keep your family away from this church.

Was given (4) $10 H.E.B. Cards to help out with expenses last week. They sure did come in handy. Great kind people there. I plan to go for services as well in the near future.

If you need assistance from this church, Such as utility bills, rent, Bus passes, Etc, You need to get in line very early in the am! You almost have to camp out overnight! Last couple times I went there, I got there at 5am & the line was ALREADY 5 miles long! (Figure of speech) They only take the first 30-40 clients in line. Maybe a little more than that. But bring a chair & tent to be there EARLY & SOME of the first few in line, Otherwise you won't get a spot & have to return the next Tuesday. They also have breakfast, medical resources, And Church services at the same time.

I went to eat a free dinner at this church. They serve a free meal on Fridays at 4:00 pm. They also offer help paying your bills, give you a check to get your ID card if you lost it, birth certificate, etc. They also give you a 31-day buspass on Tuesday morning at 7:00 am along with an HEB gift card for about $25. They have good programs for homeless.
