About Los Amiguitos
Nature-Based Spanish Immersion School
Los Amiguitos is a specialized immersion program where instruction is conducted entirely in Spanish. Located near Mueller, the school emphasizes the development of the 'whole child' through a blend of Montessori, Forest School, and Reggio Emilia philosophies. Children spend the majority of their day in the outdoor classroom, engaging with a vegetable garden, nature play areas, and a curriculum that fosters inquiry and environmental stewardship. Led by Director Lila Haham, who brings over 20 years of experience and bilingual certification, the program is designed for small multi-age groups. This setting allows children to develop at their own pace while building strong social-emotional bonds. The curriculum integrates art, yoga, and project-based learning to maintain a high level of engagement. Beyond the school day, the center serves as a community hub, offering summer camps and Spanish classes for adults.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
I couldn't imagine a more supportive, creative, loving environment for little children! We're a three time Los Amiguitos family, and are still consistently amazed at the level of nurturing engagement - from community gatherings to school wide camp outs. These kids graduate with a deep understanding of community, the environment, and carry with them a curiosity that is often squelched in a more formal environment. Can't say enough about Los Amiguitos!
A Truly Outstanding School and Community We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such an amazing school community. In such a short time, our child has grown so much—academically, socially, and especially in her language skills. Thanks to the school’s immersive environment and dedicated staff, she went from knowing just a little Spanish to becoming fully bilingual—almost overnight! By her second school year, she was speaking fluently and confidently. The staff go above and beyond, showing genuine care and dedication to every child. They put in the time, the heart, and the effort, and it truly shows in the progress we’ve seen. The hours they invest, and the kindness they bring to their work, do not go unnoticed. We’re deeply grateful to be part of a community that values education, diversity, and the well-being of every student. This school is truly something special.
We could not be more satisfied with the incredible education both of our daughters have received at los Amiguitos. Their Spanish is near-native and they have deep appreciation Spanish and Latin American culture. They've become incredible interested in nature, compassionately sensitive to our environment, and fearless explorers in our state parks. In addition, they have incredible enduring with their remarkable teachers snd friends. Los Amiguitos provides all of the things we value most as a family in their curriculum. We are so grateful to be part of this community for four years now and going strong.
We have had 1 or 2 children at Los Amiguitos for the past 4 years and it has gotten better every year. We love it so much!!! It is complete Spanish immersion and both of our kids have picked up the language beautifully even though it is not spoken regularly in the home. It is a small school, with a large community. There are so many past Amiguitos that are still involved in the community, going to campouts, etc. There is a lot of emphasis on community gatherings and group camping trips, which the kids (and parents) truly treasure. The kids are outside 95% of the time making a strong connection to nature and getting dirty! Lila, the head of school, is ADORED by the kids. She is so fun and super dedicated to the safely keeping the kids outside and coming up with curriculum that incorporates nature and exploration. Next year our son will be there for his kinder year and I am so glad that we made the decision to keep him there another year!
Great community! Our son and us loved and love Los Amiguitos. The extensive outdoor time was amazing for our outdoor child. The teachers are great and we will continue to join the camp outs.
