About International Montessori - North Austin Campus

Legacy Montessori and Spanish Immersion

Founded in 1965, International Montessori House of Children is an established Austin legacy with a history of introducing the Montessori method to the region. The campus features specially prepared classrooms and a large, shaded playground designed for child-led discovery. Lead teachers are all Montessori certified, with many staff members remaining at the school for over a decade, providing a level of stability rare in early childhood education. The program offers both a traditional Montessori curriculum and a dedicated Spanish immersion track for toddlers through kindergarten. Parents are kept informed via the Brightwheel app for daily updates and photos. Beyond the classroom, children can participate in extracurricular activities like soccer, yoga, and dance. The environment is described by parents as exceptionally calm and nurturing, focusing on practical life skills, academic readiness in reading and math, and the development of global citizenship.

An absolute gem! My little was homeschooled before beginning her attendance at International Montessori, and the transition was so smooth. The teachers are top tier and so loving and caring with the kids. They teach them fundamentals, but also life skills. Everyday my little one comes home happy and excited to show me what she has learned. I highly recommend!

We’ve been providing cleaning services at this location for several years, and the professionalism of the staff makes all the difference. Both the Director, Ms. Alina, and Jennifer, the owner, are easy to reach and quick to resolve any issues that arise. There have been multiple times where their support directly helped our team overcome challenges smoothly. It’s been a pleasure to work with them, and I would gladly recommend this Montessori to parents and other vendors alike.

My daughter that is 2 started IMHOC in the beginning of this year for her very first time in a school setting. The amount of love, compassion, and learning material that she has experienced is more than I can have expected. When my wife and I were looking for a Montessori School we contacted the school within a short period of time the owner Jennifer Weerasuria contacted us and made us feel so welcomed, all of our questions were answered in such a way where we felt like this place was the one for our baby girl. What made this decision easy for us and what caught our eye was how long the Teachers have been there ranging from 3-13 yrs and how peaceful they were. After a short few months Covid-19’ hit, our daughter was offered virtual classes to keep in contact with her teachers and Jennifer went above and beyond to keep a safe environment and clean environment for her IMHOC family. In that time We could see how much IMHOC meant to our daughter always asking to go to school and asking about her friends. I definitely recommend everyone to experience what our daughter has experienced. There’s no better feeling to receive daily pictures on Brightwheel to know what she is doing and how she is progressing. We thank her teachers for having the heart and patience they do to make our day easy.

My daughter attended this school for 4 years, starting at 18 months. The teachers, director and owner are warm and nurturing, and there is very little turnover. They have a large, shaded playground and the kids get plenty of outdoor playtime. We signed my daughter up for some of the extracurricular activities like art and soccer. She enjoyed the classes and it was very convenient to have everything all under one roof. We are sad to be leaving IMHOC for Kindergarten in the fall, but know that my daughter is well prepared socially and academically!

We love IMHOC and recommend it to all of our friends. The teachers are extremely loving and knowledgeable. My daughter's teacher has been teaching for over 30 years! My 4.5 yr old has been attending this school since she was 2 and looks forward to school every day. We pick her up with a big smile on her face and hugs for all of her teachers. We are always amazed at the lessons and skills she's learning and think this school has truly prepared her for kindergarten next year.
