About Fiorella Di Reggio Emilia School

Fiorella Di Reggio Emilia School

Fiorella Di Reggio Emilia School provides a Spanish and French immersion curriculum for children ages two months through kindergarten. Following the Reggio Emilia approach, the school emphasizes the environment as the 'third teacher,' offering curated indoor and outdoor spaces including art studios, sensory labs, and edible gardens. Daily instruction consists of 90% Spanish and 10% French immersion, integrating inquiry-based learning with a focus on creative expression and social collaboration. The Austin campus features specialized areas such as a STEM outdoor zone, a 'mud kitchen' for sensory play, and a sustainability-focused 'maker space.' Families use the Brightwheel app for real-time updates and centralized communication with staff. The program offers flexible scheduling including full-time, part-time, and drop-in care, following standards aligned with Texas Rising Star and NAEYC to support early childhood development and school readiness.

We’ve been at this preschool for over a year now, and it has been an amazing experience for our family. My child absolutely loves it—running into school every morning with a huge smile and is genuinely affectionate with the teachers, which says a lot about the caring and supportive environment they’ve created. The Reggio Emilia curriculum is impressive, balancing play, learning, and social development in a way that has really helped my child grow. We’ve seen a boost in confidence, curiosity, and communication skills in both English and Spanish. We feel incredibly grateful to have found Fiorella. Highly recommend!

Our son has gone here since he was 3 months old and he's now 3 and 1/2. We love it so much. Unlike most preschools, the teacher turnover rate is incredibly low. Our son runs into school every morning hugging his teachers and sometimes forgets to hug us goodbye LOL. Only negative feedback is that they have a slightly complicated uniform code which can be difficult for toddlers and a little bit pricey.

Safety Record

In January 2025, the Texas Attorney General secured a $250,000 settlement against the school's owners, Adriana and Enrique Rodriguez, following a 2021 labor trafficking lawsuit. The state alleged the owners lured foreign workers with false promises, paid them low or no wages, and threatened them with deportation to force continued labor. Court records further alleged that untrained employees were instructed to hide in closets during state licensing inspections to avoid detection.

Parent Reputation

Parental sentiment is highly divided and frequently centers on the school's history of multiple name changes—previously 'Austin Eco Bilingual School' and 'Nido Verde Di Reggio Emilia'—to distance itself from legal issues. While some parents praise the bilingual immersion and Reggio Emilia philosophy, many on local forums like Reddit express significant concern regarding the ethics of the owners. Overall reputation is currently characterized by skepticism due to the publicized labor trafficking settlement.

Staff Insights

Employee experiences at the school have been a matter of public legal record, with the Texas Attorney General documenting cases of extreme coercion, wage theft, and exploitation of foreign-born staff. Allegations included threats of family separation and arrest, and the school was described by the state as 'dangerously mismanaged.' No standard independent employee reviews for the current 'Fiorella' name were found on Glassdoor or Indeed as of early 2025.
