About Mockingbird Centers

Mockingbird MicroSchool South Austin Campus

Mockingbird MicroSchool offers a hyper-focused learning environment with some of the lowest teacher-to-student ratios in Austin. Operating across specialized spaces like 'The Teal House' for toddlers and 'The Purple House' for preschoolers, the program emphasizes child development through a blend of Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and nature-based play. The curriculum is designed to foster curiosity and emotional regulation in an intimate setting that limits enrollment to ensure individualized attention. This center stands out for its all-inclusive approach, providing organic hot lunches, healthy snacks, and all essential supplies like diapers and wipes. The facility features dedicated outdoor spaces and a focus on wholesome nutrition, including reverse osmosis water. Led by experienced, degreed educators, the community-centric model treats parents as partners in their child's developmental journey.

We have honestly had a wonderful experience at Mockingbird. The teachers are amazing — warm, attentive, and clearly dedicated to creating a fun and engaging space for the kids. Communication is great; they keep us informed and are very responsive, which we really appreciate. It’s clear that our child feels comfortable and happy in the classroom. Seeing the excitement around daily activities and the friendships being built is incredibly reassuring. Overall, the environment and culture the team has created feel very positive and intentional. We’re grateful to be part of such a thoughtful community.

This school is the most wholesome child-centered place I’ve ever seen. It’s filled with the most caring staff I’ve ever met at a school. The owner is an amazing person and truly cares about the kids, parents, staff and the school altogether. Kids are treated with kindness and respect and they’re learning so much about critical thinking in a natural flowing way at a young age. Their meals are thoughtfully planned out. The kids are so good at creative thinking and building. It’s not overcrowded with kids and that gives it a better feel to it, better energy and positive feeling all around there. Everything is clean, organized, safe and has well-thought out spaces. If you get in, you’re lucky, because each staff member is carefully selected and they each bring something unique to the school but what they all have in common is that they truly care about kids and are the most kind gentle childcare providers. I definitely would feel safe and have peace of mind having my child there full time. This is one amazing school and I can’t recommend it enough.

Mockingbird is such a unique and amazing school. As a speech-language pathologist, my team and I see kiddos in a variety of school settings, and Mockingbird is by far one of our favorites. They have some of the friendliest staff and lowest teacher to student ratios we have seen, and the kiddos are always extremely happy to be there. The teachers are kind and welcoming, and take the time to collaborate with outside providers, such as myself, in order to make sure the students are all successful both socially and academically. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful school.

I cannot say enough great things about Mockingbird MicroSchool. Enrolling my son at the beginning of the year was the absolute best decision for our family and we feel incredibly lucky to be a part of such a special community. Every single teacher and staff member (at all levels) make an intentional effort to have a personal connection with my son and make him excited to learn and explore (and PLAY). I have been thrilled to see my son's love for art and creativity explode. Not only is there a deep focus on learning, but an even deeper focus on finding out the core interests and strengths of each child and giving them the tools and encouragement to shine. Thank you for all that y'all do day in and day out Mockingbird Team! We are so grateful for your love and energy that you put into the classrooms.

We love Mockingbird! Our daughter has attended Mockingbird for the past year and we could not be happier with our experience. The teachers love and care for the children and it’s clearly felt every day. The small class size has been wonderful for our daughter and the curriculum has been thoughtful and engaging. We could not recommend enough!
