About Bluebonnet Ymca Of Central Texas
Bluebonnet YMCA Preschool and Afterschool
The Bluebonnet YMCA of Central Texas offers a licensed child care program that extends far beyond standard supervision. Located within a community hub that recently underwent a $400,000 interior renovation, the facility provides a vibrant environment for children from infancy through elementary school. The program is rooted in five core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. This mission-driven approach aims to develop the whole child—spirit, mind, and body—through a curriculum that balances intellectual challenge with social-emotional growth. Children at the YMCA benefit from unique amenities rarely found in traditional daycares, including access to a swimming pool, gymnastics center, and multiple playgrounds. For preschool students, the program includes a nourishing breakfast and hot lunch. Afterschool participants in grades K-5 can engage in diverse enrichments like dance and sports, ensuring an active end to the school day.

Clean, friendly, attentive, with all the equipment and classes available to meet and exceed your fitness goals
Their Christmas dance performance was awesome! You can really tell that the dance instructor loves to teach and be with the students.
Fantastic facility. Loved the wonderful shampoo and conditioner in the showers. Keep that going!! The pool and hot tub were in great shape. Lots of folks were using this place...lots of families. So glad it's successful!
Just started my membership after enjoying their 3-day pass and being impressed with their recent renovations. I was a member back around 2018(?) and the bldg felt outdated. It wasn't horrible before but, the upgrades were definitely welcome. My only complaint (?) is that there used to be a back entrance which is now an employees-only door. It was nice being able to park from that side since I live in east RR and come to the facility from that direction. Having a secondary entrance would allow people more parking options besides main entrance and help with foot traffic but, I am merely suggesting as it was convenient parking on that side and they may not have adequate staffing for additional entrances. I like the new layout and design; it feels much more planned out, spacious and designed for specific uses vs feeling a bit cramped before - it feels so fancy!
I really enjoy going here! The best time to go is in the morning! The Hot tub is so enjoyable!

Safety Record
In January 2025, a lawsuit was filed against the YMCA of Central Texas following allegations of physical abuse by a caregiver at a satellite facility in Pflugerville, including choking and neck-grabbing of toddlers. The lawsuit alleges negligence and oversight failures within the organization's childcare department. While no specific recent violations or incidents were reported for the 1812 N Mays St location, the facility underwent a $400,000 interior renovation in 2023 to refresh its childcare spaces.
Parent Reputation
The facility is generally regarded as a central community hub with a positive reputation for its amenities, including gym and pool facilities. Parents on community forums describe the childcare as well-structured and 'affordable,' though some reviews of the summer camp programs suggest they may lack stimulation compared to theme-based camps. The organization is recognized as the largest licensed childcare provider in Williamson County.
