About North Austin Montessori School
North Austin Montessori School
Established in 1998, North Austin Montessori School (NAMS) provides a traditional AMI Montessori curriculum under the leadership of Director Ranjinie Perera, who brings over 45 years of international teaching experience. The school features a prepared environment where children work with specialized, self-correcting materials designed to foster independence, concentration, and a lifelong love of learning. Mixed-age classrooms allow older children to mentor younger peers, building confidence and leadership skills. Beyond core academics, students participate in enrichment activities including gardening, Spanish, music, yoga, and gymnastics. The campus includes recently renovated classrooms and natural outdoor play areas. Located conveniently for North Austin families, NAMS emphasizes a strong community culture through parent involvement and various local giving projects. The program operates year-round with half-day and full-day options to suit family needs.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
My son attended NAMS for almost two years and we had an overall very positive experience. He joined their young toddler group at the age of 15 months and thrived during his time there. His teachers were kind and caring, and he was always happy to be there. As a parent I also had a great experience with the school admin, they were accessible, responsive, and very helpful.
Our son attended North Austin Montessori School for 2+ years. The teachers and staff were exceptionally kind and wonderful. They made our family feel welcome. We felt confident that our son was in a safe and loving environment that fostered learning and curiosity. We would recommend NAMS to any family considering enrolling their child in a preschool.
Our son went to NAMS for 2 years and he loved it. He liked his classmates, teachers, and the montessori style learning as it offered freedom to learn and discover what he enjoyed. Every week our son gets to take home and show us the artwork they did for that week and talk about what they learned. There's also plenty of volunteer opportunities for parents, and the excitement our son has when we visit the school during the day is priceless. As parents, we were happy that he liked his school so we didn't have to worry too much, but it would be nice if they had a way to update parents throughout the day. I would say that was the only downside. And lunch/snacks are not provided by the school.
NAMS has been great to work with. The teachers are wonderful and really care about the kids. This was the first place that my child has been in childcare, and they patiently helped him adjust to being away from home. I feel safe and happy trustIng my child to their care. The school is also conveniently located near the library and a park, which is a nice bonus. The classrooms were recently renovated, and are beautiful and child-friendly. I’m looking forward to spending several more years with them.
My daughter started attending NAMS when she was 3. We saw immediate improvement in her communication, manners, and behavior. She is now 5 and loves her school, her environment and her teachers. My son just started attending last month, he is now 15 months old and we saw similar results. He is using more words, already holding a spoon correctly, and doing great socially. We looked at many school before choosing NAMS. We have been pleased with the education, and caring that both of my children receive. The children gain independent thinking and their creative habits are encouraged. I plan to keep both of my children here through first grade. I love knowing that my children are getting the education, and love they need while I am at work. I highly recommend Montessori and especially North Austin Montessori School. My only feedback for full time working parents is the amount of time they have off during the year.
