The program focuses on promoting skills designed to carry over into the home and school environment. With a small capacity of 12 children, the center offers a highly personalized approach to pediatric rehabilitation and developmental support. Staff specialize in treating sensory processing disorders, feeding challenges, and speech-language delays through emotional support and tailored clinical challenges.
What Parents Say
5 reviews from parents
CTOA has been a lifeline for our family since 2019. Both of our nonverbal autistic sons have made remarkable progress through their Speech Therapy, Feeding Therapy, Occupational/Physical Therapy sessions. What truly sets CTOA apart is the therapists' deep understanding and skillful application of strategies like sensory play/pairing and vestibular/proprioceptive input, always prioritizing our boys' regulation. They create a safe and engaging environment where our children can thrive and have fun. We've had the opportunity to work with many of their therapists over the years, and each has been consistently excellent. The entire team, from the admin staff to the assistants, is incredibly kind and supportive. We are so grateful for CTOA.
The experience at CTOA from start to finish is great! The team there really cares for you and we’ve made some lifelong friends there. Both of my brothers and I went to CTOA from birth well into our 20’s and it was super helpful to learn how our bodies function and how to work with it instead of against. Gabi, Megan and all the staff will treat you like family.
We had a frustrating experience with this practice. They confirmed they were in-network with our insurance (which we preferred thinking it will be priced better and involves less paperwork) but didn’t provide a clear out-of-pocket estimate despite follow-ups. Just two hours before our first appointment (evaluation), they emailed an estimate of $205, which we missed. At the clinic, we were told this was the maximum amount but could be lower based on insurance — a misleading statement. They charged our insurance for evaluation but also charged us this $205 amount as a "non-billable/non-coverable" fee, along with a $29 admin fee on top of the $60 co-pay, effectively double-charging. Our total came to around $300 (versus the expected $60 co-pay), far exceeding the out-of-network quotes elsewhere. We’ve switched practices and wouldn’t recommend this one.
Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. This clinic has shady and dishonest billing practices and offers mediocre service. For just an evaluation, they charge both your insurance and you directly. No matter what your insurance covers, you’ll still be on the hook for a non-billable, non-covered fee of $205 on top of what they bill your insurance. In our case, they charged our insurance $445, with a $60 copay for us, but we also received an additional bill for $205, plus a $29 administrative fee. After discussing these unacceptable charges with them, they reduced it to $205, even though we should have only paid the $60 copay. Just minutes before the evaluation session, we were rushed to sign paperwork for this $205 fee while being told by the staff that this was the maximum if insurance didn’t cover the cost. The service itself was mediocre, with incomplete evaluations and generic exercises that didn’t meet our needs.
Children’s Therapeutics of Austin provides care at a level that is unmatched to other providers in Austin. The care and commitment of the therapists and techs is amazing. The willingness to think “outside the box” provided avenues for my son to walk, speak and learn at levels that were never expected for him. My gratitude cannot be described. If you are a special needs parent feeling stuck, at a loss, needing to overcome a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, this is the team you want behind you. Thank you.
